Microdosing: what it does and does not mean

Some patients ask about lower-dose GLP-1 protocols. Here is what microdosing means, who asks about it, and why only a clinician can decide.

01

What people mean by microdosing

Microdosing generally refers to using a lower dose of a GLP-1 medication than a standard titration schedule would call for. It is not a formal clinical category and there is no single agreed definition. Any dose used in your care is set by your clinician.

02

Why patients ask about it

The most common reasons are tolerability, maintaining progress after reaching a goal, and cost. Those are all reasonable things to raise during your assessment or a check-in message.

03

What the evidence supports

Published research on GLP-1 medications studies specific approved dosing schedules. Lower-dose protocols have not been evaluated the same way, so no outcome should be assumed. Placeholder pending client clinical and legal review.

04

How dosing decisions are made here

A clinician licensed in your state reviews your history, goals, tolerability, and any side effects you report, then chooses a dose if treatment is appropriate. You cannot select your own dose, and dose changes always go through your clinician.

05

Talking with your care team

Message your care team if a dose feels too strong, if side effects are interfering with daily life, or if your goals change. Never adjust your dose on your own.

Start with an assessment

Your clinician can only make a dosing decision once they have your full history. The assessment is free and takes about five minutes.
